The Grand Canyon stretches across northern Arizona, carved over millions of years by the Colorado River into layers of rock that reveal an extraordinary geological history. From the rim, the scale is hard to take in; it only really became clear once we started hiking down into it, moving through changing rock, light and vegetation over four days and three nights. I was there with friends, and it became the longest hike I had done up to that point. The photographs in this collection follow that journey through the canyon, from the vast views across the rims to the more intimate changes in colour, texture and light that appear as you move deeper into the landscape.
